Kainoshō Tadaoto (1894 – 1978) was a painter of the Taisho and Showa periods.
Born in Kyoto. He studied painting at Kyoto Municipal School of Arts and Crafts and Kyoto Municipal College of Painting.
While still a student, Kusunoto developed close ties with Okamoto Kamiso, Irie Namikou, and others.
He was actively involved in creative activities, but around 1941, he was invited by director Kenji Mizoguchi and moved into the world of movies.
He was in charge of costumes and customs research for films. In his later years, he was a taciturn creator.
