Unkoku Tōeki (1591-1644) was an official painter of the Hagi domain active in the early Edo period. He was the second son of Kumoya Togao, one of the Momoyama masters. Born in Hiroshima. His first name was Motonao. In his youth, he was called Miyaboshi, and later Tsugibei. He was also known as Tomoun. After Togao’s death, he succeeded him and established the foundation of the school.
