Yosa Buson
Born in 1716 in Kema-mura, Settsu Province (now Miyakojima Ward, Osaka City), Yosa Buson went to Edo at the age of 20 to study haikai under Hayano Tomonin.In the latter half of his 30s, he began painting under the name “Asatsukang/Shimei. At the age of 42, he returned to Kyoto, where he continued to write haikai under the pseudonym “Yohantei” and many works under the pseudonyms “Xie Chunxing and Xie Changgeng” until his death on December 25, 1783.
