Kaneko Kinryo (1817-?) was a painter active in the late Edo period. His name is Yunkei, his character is Kimizhang, and another name is Nichinantei. Common name is Heitayu. A native of Edo. A retainer of Omori Yuzaburo, a shogun.
He is said to have studied painting under Tani Buncho, but his specialty was flower-and-bird painting in the style of Shim Nanpohin, and he is also said to have learned from Zhuge Jiang.
In his book, “Retired Application Manuscripts,” he wrote that he first studied painting under Shirakawa Shizan, but was excommunicated because he could not pay the tuition fees.
