Shinichi Hisamatsu (1889-1980) was a philosopher and Buddhist scholar of the Taisho and Showa periods. Born in Gifu Prefecture. His maiden name was Ohno. He graduated from Kyoto Imperial University. Graduated from Kyoto Imperial University. Influenced by the philosophy of Kitaro Nishida and the Zen studies of D. T. Suzuki, he studied Eastern philosophy, Buddhist thought, and Japanese thought. In 1919, he became a professor at Rinzai Shu University, and from 1929, he was also a professor at Ryukoku University.
