Mori Kinseki (1843 – 1921) was a nanga painter and copperplate engraver active in Osaka during the Meiji and Taisho periods in Japan. Born in Arima, Settsu Province, he studied nanga from the age of 14 with a local painter. After the Meiji Restoration, he moved to Tokyo and studied Western-style painting under Takahashi Yuichi.
He was also well known as a copperplate artist and worked on illustrations for Jules Verne’s “A Trip to the Moon World” and other works.He was eventually recognized as a major artist, winning awards at the National Industrial Exhibition and the Japan Art Association Exhibition.
