Nagasawa Rosetsu (1754-1799) was born in Hyōgo prefecture.
He was studying under Maruyama Ōkyo when he was in his 20s.
From 1786 to 1787, when he was traveling around Wakayama, he drew a lot of art which still remain on the walls of some temples around there.
He passed away in Ōsaka.
The plum tree is drawn straight with dynamism.
The stem of the tree on the left side is thick, on the other hand, the branch in the center is thin.
Sparrow's hair is drawn delicately like sparrows in other works drawn by Rosetsu.
This work here was probably drawn after 1794.
