artdescription
A thick branch is hanging down from the right side and it turns in some other direction in the center with thin branches.
One of the branches is sharply turning up so it has a substantial presence in the art but it looks rather calm because of the shades of colors.
Buds and flowers are well balanced on the branches.
The moon behind the thick tree is drawn delicately.

Maruyama Ōkyo (1733-1795) was a painter of the mid and late Edo period.

He learnt about how to paint from some Chinase and European paintings.
His delicate art style let him establish his own group which is the origin of modern arts in Kyōto.
