Sekiguchi Setsuō (1753-1834)
Born in Tokamachi, Echigo.
He studied in Edo and became a Confucian scholar of the Tsuyama domain. He excelled in calligraphy and painting, and is said to be one of the three master painters of Japanese bamboo.
After resigning his post at the age of 74, he returned to his hometown and died in 1872 at the age of 82.
