Kanō Sokuyo

Kanō Sokuyo (dates of birth and death unknown) was a mid-Edo period painter. He was the founder of the Shiba Atagoshita branch of the Kanō school, and his personal name was Tanenobu. He was the second son of Kanō Tomomasu.
Sokuyo first served Matsudaira Kaga no Kami (the lord of the Kaga domain), and later entered the service of the Tokugawa shogunate as an official omote-eshi (front-rank painter). A considerable number of his works remain in and around Kanazawa, and he was popularly known as “Sokuyo of Kaga.”
