- Description
- Son Oku (1638–1712?) was a Qing-dynasty Chinese painter who contributed significantly to the development of painting in the Ryukyu Kingdom.
Son Oku’s painting techniques were transmitted through Yamaguchi Sōki (also known as Go Shiken) and subsequently inherited by Zamami Yōshō (Yin Yuanliang), one of the leading painters of the Ryukyuan school. Through this lineage, Sun Yi exerted a profound influence on the Ryukyuan painting tradition.
