Description: This painting of tigers was created using a technique known as yakie, in which heated iron tools or metal spatulas are applied to paper, silk, bamboo, wood, and other materials, producing images and calligraphy through scorched marks.

The technique of yakie was introduced to Japan through the Korean missions to Japan and came into prominence during the late Edo period.
