Sengai Gibon

Sengai Gibon (1750-1837) was a Zen monk and painter of the Rinzai school in the Edo period.
Born in Mino, he became a Rinzai Zen monk at the age of 11. At the age of 39, he became a dharma heir of Banya Shokan of Seifukuji Temple in Hakata, and served as abbot of Seifukuji for 23 years.
